The rough price ranges

DIY website builders look free or cheap, but you pay a monthly subscription (often a few hundred rand a month once you add your own domain) and you build it yourself. Freelancers in South Africa often charge from a few thousand rand for a simple site, and quality varies a lot. Agencies usually start well above R10,000 and go much higher for bigger sites. These are rough ranges: always ask what's included.

The costs people forget

A .co.za domain is renewed every year. Hosting keeps your site online. Changes after launch are often charged per hour. Security certificates (the padlock) should be included. Ask for all of these in writing before you start.

Good to know

What is the cheapest way to get a website in South Africa?

A DIY builder can be cheapest at first, but monthly fees add up and you do the work yourself. A once-off website like our R1,500 Starter often costs less over two years.

How much does a .co.za domain cost?

A .co.za domain usually costs a small yearly fee. On our R199 Care plan it's registered and renewed for you, in your business's name.

Do I have to pay monthly for a website?

Not with us. The website is a once-off price. The Care plan is optional: without it your site still goes live on a free web address.
